For persons with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), there appears to be a strong relationship between being an individual with overweight or obesity and the risks of hospitalization and needing treatment in intensive care units (ICUs).
