Navamedic recalls food supplement product VitaKalk
(Stockholm, 20th August 2021) Navamedic recalls food supplement VitaKalk from pharmacies and consumers in Sweden. The product recall is due to identification of low quantities of ethylene oxide in the product.
Navamedic AB recalls the food supplement product VitaKalk from the Swedish market, with the following packaging and product details:
The recall of VitaKalk is due to the identification of low quantities of ethylene oxide in the product. Ethylene oxide is a pesticide and is prohibited in food and in this case, food supplements in the EU. Although ethylene oxide does not cause any immediate health risks, use in large quantities and over time may be harmful.
The product VitaKalk is recalled in dialog with the Swedish Food Agency. Use of VitaKalk tablets do not involve any immediate health risks.
”We take the identification of ethylene oxide in VitaKalk very seriously. Product security is our number one priority. We do what we can to inform both our customers and consumers about the recall in order to stop sales and use of the product as soon as possible,” says Astrid T. Bratvedt, Chief Scientific Officer, responsible for product quality and security at Navamedic ASA.
If you have VitaKalk at home, please return the product to your local pharmacy.
