Cardiology

Cardiology includes disorders of the heart as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease and electrophysiology. Hypertension is one of the most commonly treated conditions, and the leading cause of early death. Another common condition usually caused by low blood flow in the coronary blood vessels is Angina Pectoris.

Navamedic provides pharmaceutical options for treating Angina Pectoris.

Imdur®

Imdur is a nitro compound, and acts by widening the blood vessels, it thereby facilitates the work of the heart during angina.
Imdur® is used in prophylactic treatment of angina pectoris. Imdur® extended release tablets is available in 30 mg, 60 mg and 120 mg.

Nitro compounds provide a dose-dependent relaxation of smooth muscle. The treatment effect depends on the dose and the individual sensitivity. Low doses cause ventilation and decreased venous return to the heart (decreased preload). High doses also result in arterial dilatation and reduced vascular resistance (reduced afterload).

Nitrolingual®

Nitrolingual is an oral spray with nitroglycerin as an active substance. Nitrolingual enlarges the blood vessels and thus reduces the load on the heart, and the oxygen needs of the heart. Nitroglycerin is rapidly absorbed by the blood through the oral mucosa and the effect occurs rapidly.

Nitrolingual is used in:
• Treatment of temporary angina (angina pectoris) and prevention of angina caused by exertion, eg physical exertion or any other condition that may have previously caused angina.
• Symptom relief in the event of acute heart failure or myocardial infarction.
• Cramp in the coronary heart during angiography (angiography).
